Off down the Loire River changing sides whenever a bridge came
up. Eventually arrived in Saumur. Off to the Tourist Info office and are now
staying in an old building running as a hotel in a pretty room off the courtyard garden. Right on the Loire and 500 metres upstram from the centre of town.The
chateau is just above us. Straight into the Saumur Champigny A.O.C. with
cabernet francs dominating. Have now
done 4 wineries plus the wine info office so feel that I understand a bit about
this appellation but there are dozens more in the Loire. Went to yet another
great place for dinner. Luckily my French
is now ‘spot on’ so we only get confused when ordering occasionally. Tomorrow
we are off on a day trip around the area.
