Dubai to Sorrento-like clockwork

Trip from Dubai to Rome uneventful compared with the Melbourne-Dubai leg.  Sufficient to say on this ‘positive outlook’ blog that broken seat followed by no sound on entertainment unit has led to high level discussions re our return flight with Emirates in July.

Seamless travel from Rome airport to Rome Central, from there to Naples, change train to Sorrento.  Ran into the birthday girl, Julie, on the train from airport.  She had flown in from the USA and was staying in Rome until Dean arrives Tuesday.

We sort of got ‘scammed’ by a young lad at Rome station who offered to help us buy ticket for Naples at the automatic machine.  Might sound easy but after 36 hours up and with the fast train going in 10 minutes he was well worth the 10 euro.  He showed us how to do it, allocated the carriage and then got us down to the right platform with 2 minutes to spare.  If we had missed it, it would have been another hour.  Given the total ticket cost for 2 was 90 euro a 10% ‘organisation’ fee was well worth it for 2 tired travellers.

Great hotel in Sorrento-central but quiet. Out for a quick dinner complete with a limoncello to finish.

  1. Dear Tom (or is it John?) and Robyn,

Make sure you write lots of letters and emails to the airline in the great Fisher tradition. Tom, your dad would be proud of you. Just leave the bike and hopefully I will pick it up maybe next year.
I reckon you should be in the relax mode by now so have another drink and enjoy!! Have you had a decent coffee yet?

    Love, Rocky and Lanie
